All prices are inc. VAT and vary by system and quantity. Rail-less and Slotted Post start from £165/m (10mm glass, 30m+) or £230/m (11.5mm, 30m+). Post & Rail starts from £210/m. Base Channel Frameless and Spigot Fix Frameless start from £330/m. Juliet Balconies from £300/m and Bespoke Staircase from £250/m. Smaller runs (0–3m) attract a higher per-metre rate. What types of glass do you use?

Accepted Answer

Dependent on style, minimum of 10mm thick for post and rail systems. Frameless systems without a handrail use up to 17.5mm or 21.5mm laminated glass. All glass is manufactured to BS EN 12150 with polished edges as standard. Available in clear, tinted (grey, bronze, blue), or satin-frosted finishes.

Steel components are typically 5–7 days. Glass panels take 2–3 weeks depending on specification. Most projects are completed within 2 weeks. We'll confirm exact timelines when we finalise your order.

Yes, our supply-only packages include detailed installation guides and all necessary fixings. Many of our customers are builders, contractors, or competent DIYers. For more complex installations (curved staircases, multi-level) we recommend professional installation.

What building regulations apply to glass balustrades?

Accepted Answer

Glass balustrades in the UK must comply with Approved Document K of the Building Regulations. Key requirements: minimum 1100mm height for balconies and landings, minimum 900mm for staircases (measured from pitch line), horizontal load resistance of 0.74 kN/m for residential applications, and gaps no wider than 100mm.

Glass balustrades can be fixed to concrete, steel, timber decking, brick, and blockwork. Concrete provides the strongest fixings. Timber decking may require reinforcement depending on the joist spacing and board thickness. We'll advise on the best approach for your substrate.

Do I need a handrail with a glass balustrade?

It depends on the application, style, and drop height. Systems with a handrail use toughened glass. Systems without a handrail use toughened and laminated glass for additional safety. Where the drop is under 600mm, regulations are more relaxed. We'll advise on the best approach for your specific project.

What is the difference between 304 and 316 stainless steel?

304 grade is suitable for indoor use. 316 grade (marine grade) is recommended for outdoor applications. For high salt/coastal environments, we recommend mirror finish 316 for maximum resistance against tarnishing.

How do I maintain my glass balustrade?

Accepted Answer

Glass balustrades require minimal maintenance. Clean monthly (outdoor) or every 2-3 months (indoor) with warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners and scouring pads. For stainless steel fittings, wipe down with a stainless steel cleaner quarterly. In coastal areas, clean stainless steel monthly.

Supply only: 100% payment upfront before manufacturing begins. Supply and install: 50% deposit to begin, with the remaining 50% due on completion. We accept bank transfer, debit cards, and credit cards.

Do you offer a warranty?

Accepted Answer

We offer a 2-year warranty on glass against manufacturing defects such as clouding or de-laminating. Spontaneous breakage is not covered as this can be caused by nickel sulphide inclusions — an industry-wide characteristic of toughened glass. Supply and install projects include a workmanship guarantee.
